In-line
wire drawing machines Mod. SKP
The
in-line wire drawing machine mod. SKP is a horizontal-axis
monobloc which is positioned between the uncoiler and
the cold heading machine. Its function is to size the
wire or rod to the exact wire diameter needed for the
cold heading application.
It works in automatic with the cold heading machine.
The compensating arm ("dancer") auto-regulates
the drawing speed in function of the demand of wire
from the cold heading machine.
The
utilization of the in-line wire drawing machines Mod.
SKP brings the following advantages:
:: Saving in production costs, because rod or
semi-finished wire are used instead of drawn wire.
:: Reduction of inventory, because from one rod
size it is possible to draw different wire sizes.
:: Improved metal formability, because wire gets
drawn just before entering into the cold heading machine.
Wire is warm, so it is easier to form.
Age-hardening problem is eliminated.
:: Diameter control, because with an in-line
wire drawing machine wire diameter is controlled just
before using the wire for manufacturing the final product
and closer tolerances can be obtained.
:: Better wire surface, because wire drawn in-line
has a clean surface and carries drawing lubricant which
helps improving the product quality.
:: Improved tool life, because the warm, lubricated
and precisely sized wire contributes to increase the
life of the cold heading machine tools.
:: Reduction of downtimes, because it is possible
to use heavier coils. The pulling effort will be on
the in-line wire drawing machine and not on the cold
header feed rolls, which may not have the required power
for doing this job. They just pull the last loop of
drawn wire. Also, because of this, pull-back on the
wire is reduced and there will be less short-feeds.
:: Low operating costs, because in-line wire
drawing speed is not high (meters per minute) so costs
for drawing dies and lubricant are very low. Moreover,
the operator is the same of the cold heading machine.
